Game Maker Windows Vista compatibility

Game Maker - prior to 7.0 - has known incompatibility with Windows Vista. These incompatibilities range according to the version in question, for instance, Game Maker 5.x executables can work on Windows Vista with minor incompatibilities regarding sounds. However, Game Maker 6.x (the IDE and executables) are not compatible at all with Windows Vista.
Since Game Maker 7.0, the software and its executables are fully compatible with Windows Vista, except for a minor issue in the game_end() function.

Little is known about incompatibilities in Game Maker 5, however, some executables with certain sounds seem to fail to execute properly.

Game Maker 6.x is completely incompatible with Windows Vista due to it being wrapped by a compressor that was incompatible itself with Windows Vista.
