Game Maker Versions

Game Maker 3.3, also appearing in 2001, appeared right after Game Maker 3.2b, it has been said to be an "additional and quick" version released after 3.0.

  • Games now require DirectX to be present on the machine.
  • Games run on lower versions of DirectX (no longer 6 required).
  • Large sprites now work correctly, also on 32-bit color.
  • Less resource consumption when running.
  • Exclusive mode in which you can pick the screen resolution (use with care though).
  • Faster starting time when using exact collision checking.
  • Solved some bugs that resulted in switching screen mode even if it was not allowed.
  • Better checking for certain coding errors.
  • Smoother transitions.
  • A bit faster graphics when drawing other things than images.
  • Improvement in memory usage, in particular when using code.
  • Option whether or not to release sprite memory between rooms.
