G-Java (conversion)

G-Java was an application that could convert Game Maker games to Java applications (although it was very limited). Its development ceased with the release of Game Maker 7.0, as the .gmk files are now being encrypted, and reverse-engineering them would be against the EULA.

The project has then evolved to G-Java "2.0", a whole stand-alone Game Making suite, and a "replacement" for it is Lateral Game Maker.

[edit] G-Java

G-Java is a Game Maker to Java converter application written by User:TGMG, ISMAvatar, and BZGaming in the Java programming language. It was first released in 2004. It is designed to allow its users to easily develop multi-platform Java computer games without learning the Java language.

G-Java uses .gm6 files created in the Game Maker IDE, and converts them to .jar files which can be executed in any Java VM within most modern graphical web browsers. For experienced users, G-java contains a built-in scripting programming language called "EGML", or "Extended Game Maker Language". This allow users to create programs with Java functions not available in the Game Maker Language.

The Game Maker IDE is currently only available on the Microsoft Windows OS.

[edit] Current version

The development of G-Java has been ceased, but another project (that is being supported by the G-Java community), Lateral Game Maker is under construction.
