Adobe Flash is considered to be the premiere development environment for creating Flash content for use on the web.

Adobe Flash is considered to be one of the most powerful software for creating online content such as games and movies because it exports to the .swf file format making the content playable on over 98% of computers without the end user needing to install any additional software.

The Flash IDE is extremely powerful as it allows the author to animate and write code (ActionScript) in one environment. This makes it easy to create games, and also animations with little to no knowledge of programming.

The latest version 2.1 offers about the same features that Flash 5 once did which is more than enough for making a lot of interesting games.
